Ariel, Sharon
I was thinking
of building the ultimate playlist with one simple rule. One artist. One song.
Each day will feature a song by an artist whose birthday is that day and then
nine other songs by nine different artists just because people like things to
be in tens.
The playlist
is here - https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4exU9MUJMWaouOgnu7zmSl?si=I5fqk7VpQX6aDGec7xvqsQ&pi=e-IfIWXc5GT56R
So, the idea was
that you might want to follow and share and either have the playlist yourself
or do your own or chat about it with me, you could use the hashtag #EHGOGS.
I’m on Twitter X
thing as @fourfoot
Today’s selection
is dedicated to birthday girl Sharon van Etten. This blog is impressionistic
and fucking vague. It’s all about the playlist.
One Day – Sharon
van Etten. Because the way she sings the line “You might love me back”
breaks my heart each time I hear it.
Dayzed Inn
Daydreams – Ariel Pink. Modern day psychedelic troubadour – reminds me of
some forgotten Todd Rundgren number. All over the place in the best kind of
way.
Breaker Breaker –
Peter Bjorn and John. Not enough pop songs come in at 93 seconds. Take note
epic-writers!
Do People in
America Wear Easterhouse T-shirts? – Michael M One of the best song titles ever.
A Scottish take on LCD Soundsystem.
Teardrops – Womack
and Womack. One of the absolute fucking best tunes of the eighties. Irresistible.
Jump Around –
House of Pain Because it’s great and you know it is.
House of the
Truth – Alexis Taylor. Hot Chip dude goes all Laughing Stock-era Talk Talk
with a lush, verdant mildly jazz piano blues number.
Pyjamarama –
Roxy Music. I just didn’t know what to choose. Thought about Re-Make/Re-Model,
went over to More Than This for a bit and ended up at the start. Happy Mondays
should have covered this.
September Fields
– Frazey Ford. Latter day Southern soul revival. Indian Ocean is one of the
albums I turn to when I need something reassuring and comforting in the
background.
As ever, your love is taken as read. Thanks for putting up
with this shite. Tomorrow, we celebrate Paul Humphreys of OMD.
